Exploring the Art of Musical Theatre
The Musical Theatre Intensive is a collaboration of the drama, dance and music departments at Firespark!.
A few years ago, students in the Musical Theatre Class expressed a greater interest in honing their skills more than in just one class a day. They wanted more intense training in dance, voice, and acting and a chance to perform the scenes and musical numbers they had worked so hard on. We Firespark! administrators pride ourselves on updating classes and curriculum to better meet the needs of the students so we created the Musical Theatre Seminar-now called the Musical Theatre Intensive.
Students will begin their day with a dance class focused on different techniques commonly used for the stage. Next, students will participate in a voice class to improve vocal technique and then end with an acting class. Everything they learn will come together in a rehearsal period during the 6:30 Activity time each night and then on the Tuesday night of the second week they showcase their talents. All of this happens under the Direction of Stacey Alley (look for her bio under the Dance Faculty.)
If Broadway is where you want to be then this is the program choice for you! On the application choose: the Musical Theatre Intensive on the "Course Selection Form" and then choose and Activity Time for the 3:30 Time Slot and we will do the rest.
